Raigad Fort:
Sri
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj built this invulnerable &
invincible fort in 1664 for his capital. This fort witnessed
the grand ceremony of his coronation in 1674.
Thereafter,
he set out for his expedition of the south from here, He also
breathed his last here in 1680. Raigad fort is strategically
built in such a way that its threesides could not be accessed
even if attacked by thepowerful armed forces. It was here
that he crowned himself as Chhatrapatti Shivaji Maharaj.
Tourist attraction at Raigad fort are Samadhi of Shivaji Maharaj,
Jagdishwar Mandir, Gangsagar tank, Takmak Tok, Hirkani Buruj
(tower), Khob Lada Buruj (tower), Balekilla (inner castle),
Raj Sabha, Market Place & memorial of Waghya dog, Mena
Darwaja, Palkhi Darwaja.
